Zuzu
was sitting in the garden. She was thinking about things she didn't
understand. She loved her dear Nani (grandmother) but missed ( özlemek ) her parents. She didn't know when they would return ( geri vermek ).
She missed school. She didn't know when she could go again. She missed
her friends. She didn't know why her life was so hard (zor).
Nani looked out the window at Zuzu. She made 2 cups of tea and took them out to her dear granddaughter.
They drank their tea in silence (sessizlikte ). After a while (bir süre sonra) Nani said, "Do you know why life is so hard sometimes?"

So Nani told her the story of the ant (karınca) and the caterpillar (tırtıl ):
Once there was a proud (gurur duymak) ant. One day when he was running up a
tree, he saw a caterpillar in a cocoon (koza). The free (bedava),
proud ant laughed at the caterpillar. "Look at you! What a
terrible life (korkunç hayat) you have locked in (kilitli) that
cocoon. Look at me! I'm free. I can run wherever (her nerede) I want
and do anything I want." Then the ant ran away.
Ten
days later, the proud ant came running up the tree, but the caterpillar
was gone! Then a shadow (gölge) flew over the ant. He looked up and
saw a beautiful butterfly (kelebek) flying high in the sky far above (çok yukarıda) the ant.
Zuzu, now I will tell you the most important part of the story. I hope (umuyorum) you will never forget (asla unutma) it:
I do not want anyone to have a hard life! But a hard life is not the
end (son değil) of the story. A hard life, not an easy (kolay)
life, helps us learn the most important things.
